Just shy of one year ago Afterburn Games released Railbound, a fantastic little logic puzzler that was all about routing and connecting the cars of a train by placing various track pieces in the proper places. Railbound featured plenty of puzzles to chew on, great visuals and sound, and a charming little story tying it all together. We chose it as our Game of the Week when it released, and Apple chose it as a Design Award winner during WWDC a couple of months ago, which is a massive honor to say the least. With its first birthday coming up and that shiny Apple Design Award under their belt, Afterburn wanted to celebrate these landmark moments in Railbound’s life in the best way they know how: By releasing a new content update. Here’s a peek at Railbound version 3.0.
As you can see, the big new feature in the 3.0 update is two locomotives. Now you’ll need to route two different sets of cars and ensure that they make their way safely to their respective locomotives, in the proper numerical order no less! Phew, my brain hurts just thinking about this. There will be more than 40 new levels to hone your dual-locomotive skills, and version 3.0 will also include cloud save support on mobile so you can hop between your different devices. And what good is an update without plenty of general fixes and improvements? Those are here too. The version 3.0 update for Railbound arrives on the game’s first birthday, next week on September 6th, on mobile and PC platforms with the Nintendo Switch receiving the update a bit later.
