Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Maybe I just wasn’t looking carefully enough or maybe it was just a slow week, but I really had to dig to find some cool updates this week. I pulled it together in the end though, so we’ve still got that list of updates to get your week started with. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Diablo Immortal, Free In the latest update for Diablo Immortal, a brand new dungeon awaits you at Tristram Cathedral. There are treasures to be found within, but keep your eyes open for The Butcher or he’ll ruin your day in a hurry. There are also some new events here, including the Champions’ Revolt, Alley of Blood, and some new PvP battles. There’s some other stuff in here but it mostly pertains to things you can buy with your real cash, so I’ll just stick a pin in it and move on.
Toon Blast, Free You know it’s a tough haul when I have to bring out the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update this early on in the list. Even more so when it’s Toon Blast. Anyway, you get fifty new levels as usual. Let me check the theme wrapped around them real quick. Daily Workers, apparently. Well that sounds absolutely enthralling. We’re just here to match the pieces anyway, I suppose. Swipe, swipe, swipe.
Jetpack Joyride, Free This game seems to update near weekly to cycle out the previous event and introduce the next one, so while we are getting near a holiday or two, we’re not quite there yet. That means there’s time to go back to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles well, and that’s just what Jetpack Joyride is doing. The usual skins! The usual rewards! Do you have it all already? Well… have a nice break until the next update rolls in?
Jetpack Joyride 2, I’m also doing Jetpack Joyride 2 this week, but its update is a bit more exciting than the one for the first game. The Anniversary event rolls on, there’s a new Firefighter skin, a new Extinguisher jetpack, and a new Science avatar. The sticker album has a new volume, too. Otherwise, it’s a couple of neat things related to skins. There are filters now that let you find the skin you want more quickly, and a new Random Skin that basically serves up a different skin every time you play.
Castle Crumble, How can I punch this one up? It’s really just a new kingdom with thirty levels to play, plus a Conquest Mode for that kingdom. There’s some kind of Candy King Challenge, but I can’t find many details about that. The whole sweets theme is a neat one to add to this game, I suppose. I wonder if things are sticky because they’re made of frosting and such? Probably not, but that would be cool. Regardless of how they play out, just having thirty more levels to challenge is quite welcome. Sometimes you just want to crumble a castle.
Ballistic Baseball, Ballistic Baseball, eh? Sure, it’s one of those weeks. In this new version of the game, you can enjoy the newly-introduced Ranked game mode. If you can finish the 210 steps you’ll earn the rank of Baseball Legend and get Rising Star Emma for your team. You can now buy and manage custom gear for your team, and there are three completely new Rising Star athletes who have the lovely names of Rishi, Adriel, and Liam. I’d imagine there are some bug fixes and other little tweaks in here too. You know, to keep the baseballs doing their ballistic thing.
Temple Run+, Glittering Golden Guy Dangerous. What a name that is. I love it. It sounds like a pro wrestler from the 1980s or something. GLITTERING GOL-DEN GUYYYYY DANGEROUUUUS! Yes, I’m giving this game the coveted UMMSotW just for that. Also available is the lumberjack Sigur Frostbeard, who has a very cool name of his own. It’s all part of the Autumn Escapades event, so head on in and enjoy some GLITTERING GOLDEN GUY DANGEROUS! I’m just Plain Normal Shaun Musgrave. Sometimes it isn’t fair.
Garden Tails: Match and Grow, One hundred and twenty new levels in Garden Tails: Match and Grow! That’s a ton. That’s even more than Royal Match usually adds. Anyway, you’ll be visiting the mushroom garden and meeting Iris the Skunk. It seems there’s a bit of a scuffle going on there, and I’m hoping it doesn’t involve Iris’s odor. That’s always an awkward thing to bring up with skunks. It’s not like they can help it, right? But I can also respect other animals not appreciating it. Hopefully by matching pieces in over one hundred levels we can find some resolution to this terrible conflict.
MARVEL Strike Force: Squad RPG, Free Time for the monthly update for Marvel Strike Force, seeding in the content that will be rolled out over the next few weeks. For new characters, we’ve got Iron Man (Infinity War), Iron Heart (MK2), and Darkhawk. I love that the update notes call Darkhawk a fan favorite. I’m happy if that’s the case, but I really wonder. Doctor Strange gets a new costume, and several characters get some updates. Naturally there are some new events and stories to play through, and plenty of rewards to collect. But no Spider-Mans, so no coveted award. Sorry, that’s just how it works.
Hearthstone, Free It’s been a while since I’ve looked in on Hearthstone, so let’s see what’s going on right now. Yogg-Saron has escaped?! What?! We have to do something now! Alas, it’s too late. The Titans Mini-Set, Fall of Ulduar, is here. That means things like Chaotic Tendrils, a new neutral Titan, some fascinating spell synergies, and more are here. There are also some nasty pre-game anomalies in Standard, Wild, Twist, and Arena. I just have one question that I need answered, and I need it answered as soon as possible: Who let the Yogg-S out? Who? Who? Who?
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
