Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. We’re in October now, so things will start getting a bit scary as the month goes on. For today, there’s just a few Halloween updates among the pack. Still, I think you’ll find plenty to enjoy in today’s batch. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Angry Birds Reloaded, Angry Birds Reloaded continues its apparent quest to revive the entirety of Angry Birds Space with this update, which brings the 30-stage Utopia episode complete with its boss battle against Big Bork. Atomic Bird arrives with this update as well, and you can also look forward to the new Piglet Counter which easily shows your progress. Finally, there are some new Eggsteroids to look for. Locate them and you’ll unlock even more levels.
Warped Kart Racers, You know, when this launched I had assumed that there would be lots of new characters added to it over time, but I guess that just isn’t how it is. That’s fine, I suppose. You can still do meaningful updates without continually adding new characters and levels. There are a few things in here. First, there are now leaderboards. Compare your times against other players and see if you’ve got what it takes to stand at the top of the podium. There’s a new October episode in this version, challenging you to play in Multiplayer and League to get some Halloween flavored rewards. Finally, a new battle mode has been added. The Crowned modifier, available in both Freeplay and Leagues, sees you fighting over who can wear the crown. Sounds fun.
Injustice 2, Free Injustice 2 finally gets an update that isn’t tied to an under-performing DC movie! Instead, it’s tied to Mortal Kombat 1. Hm. I’m not sure which is better. Anyway, this update adds Scorpion to the roster. He’s Legendary, and you can combine him with the previously-added Sub-Zero and Raiden to make a spiffy Mortal Kombat team. Speaking of those two, they’ve been Refactored with some new Passive Abilities. Coming later this month? Legendary Beast Boy! He can transform into a variety of animals to really take a bite out of cri… your opponents. Not a bad update, all things considered.
World of Tanks Blitz - Mobile, Free It’s not every day that World of Tanks Blitz kicks off a new season. In fact, this would only be the second day ever because Season 2: Constellation is, as the name confirms, the second season. To help celebrate the new adventure, a new branch of Polish vehicles has been added with six medium tanks. The Desert Sands map has received a graphical makeover, and it looks sharp. There are some events seeded into this new version, plus the Blitz Stellar Cup where you can fight for some cool rewards. Finally, a huge balancing pass has been made on Tier X vehicles. Hopefully nothing got nerfed too badly, but I’ll leave it to the hardcore players to sort it out.
Royal Match, Free I keep coming back around to Royal Match when it’s time for the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle update selection, and it’s easy to see why. Frequent updates, proper notes. It means a lot! As usual, there are one hundred new levels to play here set in a new area, the Grand Library. How will King Robert slowly perish in there? Perhaps buried under a bunch of fallen books, where he slowly starves to death? FAIL!
AFK Arena, Free I’ve been a busier me than usual lately, so let’s have a look at what the best RPG for busy me has to offer. There’s a new character! That’s pretty normal. Jerome – Commander of the Waves is a new Lightbearer hero, and he brings the usual new character modes with him. A new adventure, Raid the Thieves Lair, has been added to the Voyage of Wonders mode, and some updates have been made to the King’s Tower. Apart from that, it’s a lot of little balancing tweaks and what-not. The less obviously visible work that is nevertheless incredibly valuable. I wonder what the hard-working developers play when they go home? Does the doctor recommend AFK Arena as the best RPG for busy them, and then they say “But doctor, I am the Best RPG for Busy You!"? Probably not. That’s just silly.
finity., Some people have found finity to be a little too tough, so this latest update adds in a new mode that will be tinkered with and refined over time. Casual Mode has an easier level of difficulty, allows you to choose the rank you’re playing, and makes it so you can play endlessly. The developers have given a heads-up that this mode will probably see changes and updates in the future, so it might not be exactly where it needs to be in its current form. Give it a try and see. There are also some bug fixes and other improvements in this new version.
LEGO® Brawls, At last, some real Halloween update meat! Brick-or-Treat Brawl is back, and that means all the spooky levels are too. Duke it out and see who can collect the most candy, with plenty of rewards for the victors. This event is scheduled to run for an impressive five weeks, after which you’ll be so sick of candy you’ll be eating raw carrots for days. LEGO raw carrots. Very square-shaped. Little button-like thing on the top. Probably not delicious. Do not step on them.
Molecano, Free Molecano is just about as perfect a realization of its concept as you could imagine, so the only real thing I think updates can bring is more levels to clear. And hey, wouldn’t you know it? That’s exactly what we get in this update! Ten new levels? No! Thirty new levels? Not enough! Fifty? THINK BIGGER, MY CHUMS. One hundred! One hundred new levels to play! Head into the Molecano and get spelling, you’ve got a lot of highly enjoyable work ahead of you.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure, And here’s our winner of the highly coveted UMMSotW award for the week. You’ve decorated cabins for island visitors, and now it’s finally time to have one for yourself. Pick your favorite cabin, deck it out with the new wallpaper and flooring features, and set things up however you like. You can even invite a friend over and give them a Friend Cabin on your island for them to use whenever they come around. As to Halloween, the Spooky Celebration is now in effect. Explore the haunted mansion and uncover some new mysteries, get some new holiday-appropriate outfits and decorations, and have a scary time. Some new visitors might pop in, and more of the story has been added. There are new places on Cloud Island to check out, so go and see what you can find.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
